Ad Hoc

By July 21, 2017January 25th, 2024No Comments

Ad hoc is Latin for formed, arranged or done for a particular purpose only. In the legal world it can be about ad hoc committees or attorneys. These people have been appointed to handle a specific issue and once that issue has been resolved they will be disbanded. In order to be an ad hoc attorney the judge would have to be convinced that the attorney applying is classified and can handle the duties. An example is if there is a case in a New York but the attorney is in Texas, the attorney would ask the court for permission to represent their client as an ad hoc attorney.
